Some of our biggest challenges with Hayden are sensory-oriented, but Baby Banz has been a huge help. Due to his vision impairment, his hearing is super sensitive and taking him out to community events is rough. Any place with amplified music or applause was a no-go because he would have inconsolable meltdowns until we leave. It completely terrifies and overwhelms him so there is no calming him down once he gets to that point unless we completely removed him from the situation. Even the sound of ice being poured into a drink machine would scare him to death. No joke. That actually happened. My life with Hayden outside the house has been pretty much therapy appointments and Target (#HelloSilverLining). I was going crazy!
Baby Banz to the rescue!
After we saw another child wearing headphones, we decided to get a pair and that’s when we discovered Baby Banz. When I tell you they were complete game changers for us, I am not exaggerating AT ALL! We got his first pair when he was about 18 months old and we’ve used them ever since. I can’t imagine how different our lives would be if we found them sooner.
We always have them with us and we send them to school for events that are tough to handle (field trips, special programs, etc). Hayden’s Banz headphones are his go-to when he gets overwhelmed. He even uses them at home if I need to vacuum or use the blender. As soon as we break out his headphones, he helps put them on. They make it easier for him to adjust to his surroundings and get used to a louder noise level. It’s amazing how much they deaden the harsher sounds, while still allowing noise to get through. We can talk to him even if he isn’t right next to us and he hears us just fine!
Banz offers more than headphones
Banz produces a wide range of products from headphones and sunglasses, to sunhats and swimwear for kids of all ages. Hayden likes wearing Chris’s sunglasses when we’re outside, so we got him his very own pair. I wasn’t sure how he would handle the strap, but once we got outside, he was totally fine. Their sunglasses can be fitted with prescription lenses so that is our next step! How stinking cute are they?
Banz are so dedicated to keeping kids protected while they explore the outdoors. And what better time to find some new adventures than summer?! You definitely need to go check out their website for some eye and hearing protection for your kids. For updates on new posts, follow me on Facebook, Instagram, and Pinterest.
