The Paddle Pal

July 19, 2018 Leave a Comment

paddle pal

Thanks to The Paddle Pal, it’s been a busy, beach-filled summer around here! For awhile, Hayden was really apprehensive about the beach. All the sounds and the texture of the sand really scared him so we didn’t push it. We had WAY too many other fires to put out before tackling the beach. Our firstRead More

dessert hummus

This week’s recipe is: DESSERT HUMMUS! I found it on one of those Tasty recipe videos that are all over Facebook and I knew I had to try it out. I have been trying to eat healthier, but my gigantic sweet tooth and my teeny, tiny, little willpower keep getting in the way. There isRead More

What Yoga Taught Me About Myself and Motherhood

yoga

I recently wrote a post about practicing yoga for Destin 30A Moms Blog and it went live this week! Here’s a sneak peek:   “My whole life was revolving around this tiny human who needed WAY more than the usual amount of care and if the plans I had made for myself shifted even aRead More

Let Them Be Dad

dad

Its time to celebrate dad! We’ve all seen the dad memes. Memes about kids tearing down walls to get to mom when dad is sitting in the other room, or jokes about the siren call of the bathroom that men hear when mom pulls up with a trunk full of groceries. How many articles haveRead More

Teacher Appreciation Week

May 3, 2018 Leave a Comment

Next week is Teacher Appreciation Week! We have had a really great team so far during Hayden’s time in school. They have to work extra hard with my little guy and they have all had the utmost patience with him (and with me and my 1,000 questions). Regardless if your child is special needs orRead More

April 1 was the 11th anniversary of our first date. Any guesses who’s still telling the funniest jokes? 📆❤️👫🏻
We went to a birthday party at @usgoldgymnastics and this kid had the time of his life!! For a while, he was totally happy and giggly watching the other kids, but he finally worked up the courage to get involved! We never would have been able to do that a few months ago and we are so grateful that with his new meds, he’s able to participate in the ways that he wants to. He was one happy, sleepy kiddo at bedtime but I could tell how proud he was of himself 🥰💪🏻🏆
👋🏻👋🏻In honor of Rare Disease Day, I wanted to share a bit about Hayden’s condition. In 2019, he was diagnosed with Lowe Syndrome, a genetic disorder that occurs in only one in 500,000 boys and affects the eyes, brain, and kidneys. 🧬🧫🔬
I had somebody message me earlier and I realized I haven’t posted a Hayden update since our last terrible-horrible-no-good-very-bad-day(sssss).
Today was hard. Days have been hard more often than not lately. Hayden’s behavior has gotten progressively worse this past year, and especially since school started.
